I’m an environmental microbiologist, science writer, and fact checker based in California.

I am a proud alum of MIT’s Graduate Program in Microbiology (Ph.D. 2022), MIT’s Graduate Program in Science Writing (S.M. 2015), and UC San Diego’s Environmental Systems program (B.S. 2014).

I was formerly on staff at Science News in Washington, D.C.; I’ve also written or fact checked stories for a variety of other publications, including MIT Technology Review, NOVA Next, and Knowable Magazine.

I’m always looking for the next great story to read, write or fact check! In addition to microbes, I’m fascinated by genetics and evolution, human and environmental health, and science policy–and, of course, science communication in all its forms.
